Started writing the below today at ork.

Configuring SunONE Directory Service (LDAP)

At the installer, the defaults tide you through until you need to configure the application.

Choose Configure Later, thus avoiding Sun’s lousy attempt at helping you out.

Watch as after Configure Later, it blows up and dies. Reinstall.

Interesting, the things that bring tears to your eyes.

A slashdot article I just opened noted that the last manufacturer of professional-quality reel-to-reel audio tape has closed. So why the blurry eyes? My grandfather, God bless him, had a reel-to-reel behind his computer desk that he'd listen to all the time. I never really asked him why he preferred the big reels to tape, or vinyl, or suchlike.

I miss him always, but it's the little things that remind me.
