and the Story Continues
Nov. 1st, 2002 12:10 amWell, this is very interesting.
Piro, aka Fred Gallagher of Megatokyo fame, was just laid off from his job as an architect. Instead of looking for a job, he's decided to try to go full time on the comic, which means that he's going to try to find ways to make money as an artist (and apparently webhost as well, we'll see how that goes.). I've had every respect for Piro since I first ran into his stuff, and I wish him the very best for his future. I may be moving from geeksmiths.com if his webhosting site turns out to be verycool. (no offense to the business, but it'd be better if my personal page was off the company site anyhoo).
Having seen Moderntales succeed as it seems to have (admittedly, it's not terribly open with its books, but it hasn't died yet), I look forward to seeing a demonstration of a single artist making a living from the net.
Additionally, of course, I have to applaud Seraphim, his SO, for supporting him in this little bit of insanity. Takes a special kind of loony to love an artist. (Hi hon!) We'll see how Piro goeth.
I give a shit not only because I like his work, but because I'm a media junkie and I love to see advances and changes in economy like this.
