Apr. 10th, 2003 12:58 amokay, I'm heading to bed.
I have to say that I am _intensely_ uncomfortable with the image - which I've seen from multiple sources, major and minor - that the iraqis we have 'freed' at this point have decided to hero-worship that insufferable shmuck George W. Bush. It chills me that our propaganda is so effective that crowds are turning a blind eye to the damage we've done them (wounded count around 6000, dead around 1500, that's civilians, dammit, not to mention the damage to their city and the damage we've done over the last 10 years).
Perhaps it's the underriding thought that a) Saddam was so bad that they're numb to the losses, anything will be better, or b) the juxtaposition of their worship and our distaste for what we're doing that makes me uncomfortable. Something not wholly examined lurks in this thought. I'll pick at it some more.
Hm. Or maybe it's that I don't want the media using that image to boost that rat's ratings any further. I'm still trying to figure out where the 75% that approve of the war are living so I can stay away.
On a lighter note, the GBA Kirby game is entirely too short and too easy. Cute, tho.
