The Web just underwent a deep change earlier today. As of roughly 8pm today, the top level servers on the net (owned and operated by *grumble* Verisign) are idiot-proofed.
By this, I mean that if you type in www.gofball.net when you meant www.goofball.net, it'll bring you to a page that says 'hey, did you mean www.goofball.net?'
It also corrects things like - my favorite mistake - forgetting the top level domain, so if you accidentally go to www.yahoo, it'll send you to www.yahoo.com.
Seems helpful, but people are all in a tizzy because of course we're changing things, and people fear change. I am nervous about Verisign getting the mental real estate it is rapidly gaining in the eyes of the 'net. I think it may finally be done pulling shifty, underhanded tricks, but Verisign in the past has been a pretty vicious company at getting its way.
So yeah. Net. new features. Strange but true.
