Perl Frustrations
Oct. 2nd, 2003 02:43 pmI've become very frustrated with perl, recently, not because of what it can and can't do, but because of how it looks when I do it - my style has some severe flaws, in perl, so code I write comes out looking _really_ damn ugly. I've begun to realize at least one critical reason for this: I want things more broken apart than perl generally 'needs' them to be, and my perl style doesn't reflect this want. Upshot? I need to either write in C, or learn better perl style for the tasks I want to complete. C's not ideal when I'm doing text processing, but in some ways it's preferable. *shrug*
I still love perl, just not as much as I used to. Maybe I should look into the possibilities behind Python. Dunno.
Oh, and I've been listening to Mary Prankster all afternoon. Cool stuff.
