Sometimes it's good to just take a night to yourself.

Slept off the day for a couple hours, then played Eternal Darkness for a while - got through the Greater Guardian, 20 minutes of pain I don't want to relive anytime soon, but it accomplished what I wanted - getting totally fucked up by the fear reactions. Yay being jittery and wired. Putting myself back down with hot tea, luxuriating. Call it a sanity day.

God bless those moments when all is right with the world and you can't help but feel happy.

Met with Brady yesterday and told her I'd have a copy of my senior project report on her desk by next Wednesday. Once I have that signed off, there'll be nothing between me and graduation but passing all my classes this quarter; enough of a challenge in and of itself, thanks to senioritis. Got an indication from someone a little further up the food chain that I might actually be able to keep my job here after quarter end long enough to sort things out in my life and make preparations for something more permanent.

We'll see.

iTunes for Windows came out earlier this week, available from http://www.apple.com/itunes . What does this mean for y'all on the windows end? First, if you keep nearly 2 weeks worth of music on your hard drive, iTunes is just about the only sane way to organize it. Powerful indexing, smart playlists, and rating system make it the top of the line there.

But there's more, if you're not convinced just based on that. The biggest thing about iTunes is the Music Store. I've been going there since I got my Mac, and it's now got about 50-70% of the stuff I'm looking for on it. Mainstream artists, and you can buy and download the music in the comfort of your own home, then burn it to CD. It's more expensive than Kazaa, yes, but Kazaa's fsckin illegal, dumbass, and the RIAA is fining people for being stupid.

Needless to say, I think this is Just The Right Idea. This is not a Mac Junkie pushing what he uses, it's me saying I've been waiting for this beast since long before I even thought about buying a Mac seriously. I think it's a step towards less formal, more reasonable music distribution. And it's an apple product on PC, which I think is cool, too.

erm. Rant off. Sleep now.
