Twas an interesting weekend...
Feb. 1st, 2004 11:00 pmWhew. Whatta weekend.
I got a ride up north on Thursday night from Tyler's gf, passed the time talking pleasantly; it was the first time I'd really had the time to talk to her and see what kind of person she was, which was cool.
Friday was consumed with research for a new client, working on finding out what we needed for the website, and what we could do. I got distracted after lunch with Dr. B, the lead for the clients and a close family friend, and started using a tool called PHPNuke to reimplement my website, since I wanted to test its capabilities. I think I've put about 8 hours into my website over the weekend, and it's b y no means even nearly done, but I'm going to have access to some cool capabilities in the range of dynamic content, since PHPNuke is designed for news sites like Slashdot and whatnot - same kind of capabilities. I'm reimplementing my comics page one more time, making it into a PHPNuke module.
Programming is fun, and PHP is making me less stabby about Perl programming, so it's all good.
Had a loud and entertaining birthday party for my mom's 50th on Saturday; lots of people invited, lots of people came. After about half an hour, I went into a corner and hid behind my laptop so I could block out some of the input - it was _noisy_ and how. Saw lots of people I haven't seen in years, like Cindy Hathaway.
Got a ride south with Maygain again, was sorta tuckered by then, so I was quieter.
Then I saw a really good game, or the second half of it. The Patriots were fun to watch, so were the Panthers. Wonderful play. Woulda been interesting if it'd gone into overtime (would have been the first time in NFL history, too.)
Any case, tiredish now. But my comics page works. My homepage is currently at http://www.surfnetca.com/ferret - but www.geeksmiths.com/ferret still works. The page design is quite rudimentary, since it's deeply in development, but hey.
