Free of SLO
Dec. 30th, 2004 04:41 pmSan Luis Obispo, my home of 7 years, is now behind me. I don't regret being there, and I don't regret leaving. It's a pleasant place to go to school, but I couldn't live there forever, even though there are some wonderful people there. I'm addicted to being close to the ocean, the climate and the feel. SLO was close enough that I didn't stifle, but too far to be quite right. And then there were all the things that were uncomfortable about my work environment (almost all in my own head, of course)
My new place is a small apartment in Seaside, where I can see the Monterey Bay from my parking lot. I desperately wanted to live in a city on the sea, and Monterey's definitely it. I'm in awe of how close to my (sorta modest) desires this place is.
Spent today shopping - got new shit to replace the stuff that I couldn't or didn't take with me. Bought a futon-couch thing, brought home the mattress, but I'll have to wait on the frame till next week early. My dear mother cleaned off the appliances I brought with me, most of which were very dingy.
All in all, it's a good start. I'm happy. I look forward to starting work and seeing how that part of this new chapter in my life will go.
