Three laws...
Jan. 11th, 2005 11:10 pmSo some dumbass on slashdot was talking about the three laws being 'Some do-gooder blabber having nothing to do with reality'....
Someone clearly missed the point of Asimov's work. I, Robot may not have been perfect at portraying it, but damnit, the whole point of the Three Laws is that complex enough thought will get around any simple rulesystem, effectively ignoring it. Ignoring the details, the entire story series was about how the three laws _never_ really worked the way they were advertised. Hell, there was an entire detective series (repeat after me, Elijah Bailey rules) started with a robot murder.
Anyway. Yeah, I've had this rant before, figured I should write it down now.
