The weekend was good. I went up to Capitola again - more visits with my family in the last two months than I think I had in an entire year down in SLO. This weekend the goal was simple: Watch Sideways with Mom and friends, and then drink Pinot Noir as an appropriate followup.

One more Mah jongg post

I believe I posted at one point that I'd found a site that sold hand-made Mah Jongg sets. I ordered one of them last week in a fit of appreciation for the fun had with MJ during President's Day weekend.

My set came in today.

There's something incomparable about hand-crafted materials. Bamboo back, oxbone front, hand carved and inked... I love art - if I were a rich man, I'd collect it, and be one of those people who infuriate artists and collectors alike by saying 'I don't know art, but I know what I like.' This is a piece of art. I can't wait to play with it.

Kem cards

According to a multitude of sources, Kem closed down, perhaps for good, some time ago.

Fortunately for us, there's still stock remaining out there, but if you want to have Kem plastic playing cards, you had better go order them sooner than later - who knows when another company will make something of similar quality, or when Kem might be reborn.
