CD: Tricky - Maxinquaye.

Tricky spends all his time trying not to get nailed down into a genre, so he does a lot of different styles. His music comes out sounding sorta dark, varying between rock, alternative, RnB, hip-hop. Very intricate. Maxinquaye is his first release. It's good backdrop music, and good for just listening to. 4.5/5 estimated score in my library.

Seriously not child-safe, though. The tracks vary from dark but clean to WTF is with the detailed sex scenes and drug use. *shrug* noone's perfect.

Must make this QOTD for Orc Trickery:

On the Net we are made out of sentences, and some people insist on showing up hideously deformed.

Every day or so, the folks in the next office over start spazzing about the Big Damn Fishtank again, or somesuch. Invariably, in the midst of this, Chris wanders by, and in a voice implying curiosity and a bit of confusion, emits, "What the fuck is this?" The ritual response is "We're having an important meeting."

I missed what spawned it, but today he walked away, and about fifteen seconds later came back, handed one of my coworkers a fin, and said "Hey, Schwabbie, here's five bucks, get yourself an English book." and walked away. I busted up.

This is the man in control of my fate at this workplace.

I'm pleased.

I can't decide whether I liked it, or hated it. It had many themes which appealed, fulfilled Bradbury's law of science fiction (It should be about futures that must not happen), it twisted repeatedly... but somehow, if felt _wrong_. I dunno. I'm not going to watch it again. Once was enough. If I want to watch something like that again, I'll watch The Game. I prefer the ending on The Game.

Werewolf

On another note, I also have no idea what to think about Werewolf: The Forsaken.

Part of my brain's screaming "Oh, god no, what have they done to you!", and another is calmly saying "Remember how bad it _sucked_, back when they didn't give a shit about game balance?"

Rage is again the theme; at first glance (haven't perused yet), the spirituality of the wolves is drowning in it. They've loosened the leash on these just like in Vampire - Auspices exist, but Tribes are no longer a bloodline kinda thing, more of a social unit. A lot more crisp emphasis on the animal nature of the wolves, how the animal and the human have to find balance. Immediately lends itself to the idea of a pack of werewolves protecting an area, pack behavior, looser organization. The hoopty powers - stepping sideways, shapeshifting - are either packed into a gift tree, or made to actually cost something to maintain. No more wandering down main street in gauru (not a misspelling, and it's the equivalent of crinos) because it doesn't cost a thing - now, you pay for your power.

Oh, and last observation of the moment: No more lupus weres. At least not in this book. You're human, then you become a werewolf. Metis are abominations not to be tolerated (haven't seen what the actual state of the metis is, just dire warnings against weres mating), but there Just Ain't No Such Thing As A Werehuman.

Simplifies things a bit.
