There is no such thing as an Intel Xenon processor. The Intel Xeon is a server-quality processor that happens to have only ONE N in it's name.

Reaargh. Sorry, couldn't stifle that one any more.

Wow.

I admit, I have some pretty biased opinions about the Boy Scouts of America.

I'm horrified at how funny I've found the macabre events surrounding this year's Jamboree in Virginia... But I still can't stop laughing.

For those who haven't heard, when the Scout Leaders were setting up pavilions before the event started, four leaders _died_ when they attempted to set the pavilion up under a power line and electrocuted themselves. Several others were also injured.

Here's the topper. There's an article on how the Scout leaders saved the lives of several more scouts because they stopped them from rushing to pull the sizzling leaders off the impromptu lightning rod. Good lord! Did none of these scouts learn how _not_ to help someone suffering from electrocution?

I have no words for how much common sense this lacks. Maybe my standards are a little harsh, but this entire situation struck me as damn near beyond words.

So, because of weather conditions, Bush delayed his visit to this little event.

Today, 300 scouts suffered some form of heat prostration. Some of them had to go to a hospital.

This event isn't going to be remembered with much fondness, methinks.

Bleach...

So one of my coworkers is American Japanese. Knows the language, lived in Japan for a while on duty. Doesn't get Anime at all. Likes the Cowboy Bebop OST, though. Anycase, his questions as to why us crackers like anime made me curious about the newer anime out today. So I downloaded Bleach and started watching on the way to work in the morning. Dude. Using the PSP so I can have morning cartoons at age 26. I feel perversely amused.

Anycase: Bleach has the prerequisite cuddly animal. Just watched it's origin episode: it was originally a synthetic soul, modified to be highly combat capable in any body it enters... except that it's been stuffed into a plushie lion about 10 inches tall. It's like Robocop meets Toy Story.

R: Come with me or there will be... trouble.
W: YOU! ARE! A! TOOOOOYYYYY!
R: You are a sad, strange little man.

ETA: From [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes, an appropriate line from [livejournal.com profile] samanthalake, re: LJ.
Writing in this thing is like going to the goddamned supermarket, by the way. You go for some dog biscuits and peanut butter, and you leave with five Romanian children and enough food for an ark.
