Right. Life as usual.
May. 24th, 2006 08:03 pmWork continues to be madly busy as I've involved myself in the launch of a project that has a variety of technical clusterfucks waiting to happen. Mostly, it's that it's the first major project on this application platform and the first major implementation of an LDAP directory here, and so we have to figure out how to give the devs interfaces into certain bits, and how to install other bits...
Spent most of yesterday and today trying to _correctly_ build PHP with LDAP support; my previous builds of PHP used the OpenLDAP library, which slides in like butter, but I learned that if your system is an LDAP client, and therefore links in the native LDAP libraries for nameservices... then when it tries to pull in the other library gears fly off and it all falls apart. (Cliff notes: Don't ever try to use two different libraries that do the same thing in one program. It sucks.)
I've been making good use of "How To Cook Everything", a very nice general cookbook for simply preparing just about any food. Catfish, I've decided, is not my favorite meat, though... weirdly chewy.
Beat the New Mario game. Now I can take my time gathering the remaining Coins.
