Ratatouille
Jun. 30th, 2007 08:54 amBrad Bird has once again shown himself to be a brilliant animation director; I have high hopes that he'll remain with Pixar a long, long time and raise them to heights unknown.
The animation was _incredible_. The use of the screen, the animated realism of the rats, the color, and oh, gods, the _sound_. Ratatouille demands a darn good sound system to deal with all the environmentals they worked with.
The only even slightly troublesome bit in the movie was all the false reveals. It made a number of twists and turns that didn't transition as smoothly as they could have, and that threw me a bit. However, it was a beautiful film, and I was in tears a couple of times laughing. The whole audience was thoroughly drawn in, and the applause they gave at the end was earnest.
Go see the movie! Pixar doesn't fail!
