Al Hirschfield is dead. Now, I never knew his name, but I think most of you will recognize his art from the piece I tossed over to the left there (blatantly stolen from the gallery site, hope they forgive me). Lots of stuff in the New Yorker and elsewhere, one of those artists whose work even the normal guy sees occasionally and can always say, 'Oh yeah, it's by that guy, who did that thing...'. Ah well. May he rest well.
