Hm, a day.

Spent the early part of today cleaning the house - something I don't do often, but should. Determined that I wasn't sure what horrified me most - the quantity of hair I shed, or how big it looks when I clean it up. So not only can I see my floor, but walk through the room without fear of immediate death.

Slept. My body hates me recently, no matter what I do my schedule slips just a little every day until I'm fighting to get to sleep before three AM. So a nap in the afternoon to try to improve things.

Was woken up at one point by a bit of Crystal Method in the background which sounded vaguely like my cell phone buzzing on my desk. It wasn't. Finally was woken up by Mark calling to see if he could wander by.

Mark and Becky showed up, whereupon I was promptly too stupid to trust myself to speak for about a half hour. Still waking up.

Went to Hollywood Video in search of video games. Found Sly Cooper in the budget bin and picked it up, couldn't find anything else. Spent about half an hour in the store because just after we came in, the store put on Princess Bride.

Sly Cooper is cool for several reasons: First, it's a platformer. The usual puzzles of how to get from here to there with the hopping and stuff. Second, you're a thief, so your job is to get there without getting seen. Third, the main character's a raccoon, and has some really great motion animation. Fourth, It's _cel shaded_ to make it look more comic-booky. Some of the best looking stuff I've seen, just because everything's not this big Gouraud(sp?) chunk of shiny plastic. Got sucked into the game, which is just as well since I was still dopey. Just _after_ Becky had Mark take her home, I got the power to go into bullet time during jumps, which not only looks cool, but is, in fact, very useful. I needed it to beat the boss of the area. Managed to drag myself away from the game at that point, though I have this feeling I'll be having jumpy/fally dreams for the next several days. I get to blame the Penny Arcade guys for the recommendation on this one - they handed it one of their annual awards, so I had to give it another look.

Have been doing laundry all day, and delayed because of sleep and someone putting their stuff in the dryer and forgetting it. So I need to go check on it real quick.

It's raining outside. What the hell? Ah well, at least my laundry was done.

Still listening to more than my fair share of Aphex Twin. The whole ambient music kick has been interesting, because it's not _music_ in the usual Western sense of having a bass beat, some rhythm, and possibly lyrics. It's more just sounds taken to express a mood. That said, my favorite track of the lot so far has a significant beat - CDDB called it 'Shiny Metal Rods', which is more title than the artist gave it. Sorta tribal, in a mechanical way. Hard to describe.

My dear mother has added to her menagerie. The current tally of the house is two corn snakes, a cockateil, two parakeets, one old bone of a cat, one fuzzy little teacup poodle (hm, I've reached the time of night when I'm not sure anything I say is right, kick me if I've gotten Teddy wrong, Mom), and a cute little fuzzy blob named Bixby Bunny. He's a lop, and looks the spitting image of a lap-bunny in the picture she showed me. Didn't seem too appreciative of having his picture taken either. Must be a morning rabbit. Made me wish I could reach out and scritch him.

My dearest love is coming into town tomorrow. I'm not announcing this so y'all can mob her, but rather as a warning - I'm going to spend a day with my love, and we're going to have an evening together alone. People knocking on the front door of North Horror will be greeted with weapons :-)

Seriously, I'm looking forward to having some time with Rae. We're going to have dinner here, something chickeny to go with the delightful wine which we got last time we were in Capitola - a white wine which Rae likes. I still haven't decided what we should make. Been thinking about the old standby, but Kiev is far too much work for feeding just two people. So I'll be researching some nice chicken dishes for tomorrow.

*checks news.google.com* YEEHAH! I have hope for the world! Hope, I say! Bush and Blair are backing down a step after realizing that they were treading thin ice in the international arena. Apparently they're going to write something a little less 'WAR WAR WAR' and more 'Hey, Hussein, get back in line or we'll beat you up!' Better news I haven't heard all week.

Sleep beckons. I think I'll answer it.
