I'm a patient soul. I'm happy to share my house with ants once in a while when it rains, because there's no easy way to get rid of them when the water's high - they can't go home, and there are too many to kill.
Unfortunately, it's been dry for a while now, and the ants have found all the places in the house where there's stored food, like under the fridge, beneath the stove (in places you can't even get to by lifting off the hood), and somewhere _in_ the counters, and have taken up residence. Tonight, jynx brought home some apple-y bread thing which smelled delightful... and I had to throw it away just now because the ants had gotten inside the bag and were making themselves a decidedly unattractive coating for the thing. Lots of them. So it's time the ants left. Simple sprays haven't worked, and we can't _clean_ the areas they're getting their food from, so I'm guessing it's time for ant baits up the wazoo. Becky found them in the Hot Shot drinking water, and we had a problem recently with the damn things trying for the coffee. Grrrrr. I want them gone.
I still think that the silliest thing is the ants coming from behind the cabinet in the bathroom to stock up on water from the toilet. It concerns me, though, because I'm trying to figure out how this is the most convenient place for water for them. I wonder where the nest actually is. Argh.
