First post with the new box. It's fully charged, mostly patched, has the beginnings of entertainment on it, and it's still an hour before I have to go downtown to catch the bus.
Went up to El Corral to get Office and maybe a new mouse. In order to get the cheap price for office, I need to be currently taking classes, so I'm stuck for the nonce without it. I did get the Design kit and Dreamweaver, so I can do basic web design and even work on Gpa's book. So things proceed apace indeed. The bag is big enough I can fit weekend clothing into it and I can continue to one-bag it up north.
Not getting into work today at all, which doesn't make me particularly happy, but this week has been much boredom interspersed with moments of... well, not stark terror, but definite annoyance and much business. Ernie, who was our hardware maintenance guy at work, got laid off, and the new guy who's coming in knows less about Sun maintenance than Ernie did when he started, and that's saying something. His method for getting a part number seems to be to turn the system off, pull out the part, and figure it from there. Instead, the _right_ way to do it in my (apparently somewhat backward) opinion would be to refer to the _documentation_. Meh. Have to keep training these people.
Realized something that wasn't on my List Of Things To Do which I posted earlier - Commencement. I have to plan for that monstrosity. Ah, well. The things I do for king and country.
Had the mildly annoyed revelation earlier that my Palm is now officially annoyingly obsolete; laptops these days don't come with IR ports, and neither do PDAs. Both use Bluetooth. So I have two portable devices capable of wireless communication which can't wireless to eachother. Bleh. Not that I'm planning on buying a new Palm anytime soon; I'm going to be paying this baby off for a while.
Oh. Not that I'm pretentious, but I've named it Lucien. I just need to find some appropriate desktop images to go with ;-)
