Home again
Aug. 3rd, 2003 09:00 pmLast night, we watched Shakespeare Santa Cruz' version of Comedy of Errors. As usual, their characters were uniquely represented. Particularly, the Goldsmith, who was a sorta fluffy surf-stoner accented dude talking about 'the chaaaaain' and getting laughs. Minor character who stole several scenes. The set layout was a brightly colored Santa Cruz area, and, appropriately enough, the King of the area was a golf-uniformed businessman. Twas very very well done; I can't wait to hear what their Hamlet turns out to be.
Home again, home again. Took the bus from SJ instead of Salinas, so that Dad could be my transport rather than mom. Relaxed on the bus and didn't pull the laptop for the duration. Instead, I read most of Cages. Like McKean's artwork, his writing style is somewhat abstract, with the implicit intent for you to draw your own conclusions about what the author meant, or, better yet, just make your own conclusions.
Among other things, Cages is about intent betrayed, perversion of value in art by external judgement or internal, and the scope of worlds and where they fall apart. I haven't quite gotten a coherent analysis ready. Will probably require reading it twice or more.
Got the rest of my music on here, and the nice portable mouse which jynx recommended to me as the one which Amanda had. Tomorrow I go into work and start adapting my work to working from this computer. Should be very nice.
