A weekend of... things.
Aug. 11th, 2003 03:39 pmSpent the weekend in Mendocino with the Wood family. Spare you the details, highlights were:
- Getting up at 5am, showering, moving to the car, and staying awake as much as possible for the drive from Fremont to Mendocino. Was very sleepy, didn't stay awake as much as I wanted to. The Blue Beast survived its first trip to Mendocino quite nicely.
- Played bridge. A lot. I now want to go get bridge books and play bridge with people on some kind of semiregular basis. Stride's dad is one of those Navy folks who played bridge so much he could probably kick our butts, asleep, without ever drawing an honor.
- Slept. Felt like people probably saw me as a manic depressive all weekend because my energy levels felt like they were all over the place. I sorta wandered in and out of consciousness on Saturday a lot.
- Sunday we played a lot more bridge, ignoring the real world, then went out and wandered Mendocino. Acquired much chocolate, which will be used to bribe boss into not hating me for getting in late to work on Monday morning (more on why later)
- Also acquired new game. Game is cool beyond description, so I won't, until I can gesticulate wildly when I do so. Game was found in the wacky educational store. Not educational, but funny as hell. 's called Killer Bunnies and The Quest for the Magic Carrot.
- On the (late) drive back to Fremont, we stopped in the redwoods outside of Mendocino for Stride to take pictures. I wandered out into the midst of things, unfortunately not far enough to get clear of the sound of cars because that would have made me very wet (stupid river in way), but far enough to get a little cleansing for the many worries in my heart. Not long enough for a full scrub, but long enough I was feeling somewhat better afterwards. A good laugh from reading some of the stuff from the new game did most of the rest.
- Evilben joined us for playing the game during the late evening. Play continued past midnight, and, as expected, we stayed in Fremont for the night.
- Left for SLO around 8am, fruitlessly attempted to perform errand for Wolf's mom, drifted home. Caught 41 through Morro Bay instead of wasting time on the Grade, because apparently they decided to switch sides over the weekend and the southbound lane's the closed one this time. So we caught it both ways.
- Spending the day rating music rather than being particularly productive. Several things are going wrong around me, but they're not my problem for some reason. So I'm down to 1.2 days left to rate. I look forward to being done with this task.
- Too much chocolate fudge appears to be somewhere around three small pieces today; I'm overcaffeinated and twitchy at the moment.
