Job Security
Mar. 29th, 2004 12:38 pmWent in to chat with the folk in HR, get everything nailed down this morning. The only weird gotcha has to do with the state of the budget - they have this job contracted out till the end of _this_ quarter, that is, early June.
Not being particularly happy that they're going to string me along quarter by quarter, I sent off a little email asking for pertinent details and how much warning time I can expect to get if they're going to dick me over come June.
I didn't even think until after I'd done it how much different that is from how I'd've dealt with it long ago in another life... I think back at the start of my college career or so, I'd've just assumed it was going to be fine and worried about it in the back of my mind.
Amazing what a little confidence will do for ya.
My mondays suddenly freed up, so I'm going to be able to relax and (finally) watch the '92 Dracula. Dude. Tom Waits as Renfield. That's gonna be fun.
The sudden Dracula kick is courtesy of http://www.vanhelsing.tk - someone's furry rendition of the entirety of Stoker's original work. it is quite pretty and well executed so far :-)
Saw the last boss for Crystal Chronicles last night. It was hurty, but the cooperation was pretty intense in the group, so it was more satisfying than the rest of it has been - maybe if the game got harder earlier it'd be even more fun :-)
