Re: my mood.
Mar. 30th, 2005 11:04 amI noted my mood as 'discontent' in a couple previous posts. Subtly, that was a reference.
( This Is Your Life, from Fight club )
You have to give up, you have to give up
You have to realize that someday you will die
Until you know that, you are useless
I say let me never be complete
I say may I never be content
I say deliver me from Swedish furniture
I say deliver me from clever art
I say deliver me from clear skin and perfect teeth
I say you have to give up
I say evolve, and let the chips fall where they may
This is your life, this is your life, this is your life, this is your life
Doesn't get any better than this
This is your life, this is your life, this is your life, this is your life
And it and it's ending one-minute at a time
( The rest of the lyrics )
My personal philosophy is something constantly evolving - I steal bits from Christianity, Taoism, existentialism - as my Mother puts it, 'Take what you like, and leave the rest.'. Fight Club is a very, _very_ existentialist movie. The short of the message is this: You should live your life as if it has only the meaning that you give it.
So, I found myself feeling like I needed to give something more to my life a few days ago. Discontentment is not necessarily a negative emotion any more than contentment is a positive.
