This coming week I'm going to Veritas Vision - a relatively small conference, I think, but four days of being paid full time to live in a hotel room and wander the halls of Moscone Center (or rather, a portion thereof) and learn what I can about Veritas' offerings.
The Veritas products we use (leverage, if you wanna be buzzwordy) are primarily their Storage Foundation (a proprietary filesystem and filesystem management kit) and their Clustering software. I suppose we also use their backup solution, but I couldn't bring myself to give a rat's ass about that, as long as it works.
Anycase, I'm looking forward to this, even if I'm mildly uneasy at leaving my hermitlike existence here in Seaside and being Somewhere Else for a few days. I think I'll chalk it up to mild Internet addiction and leave it mostly at that. I'm happy at least that my tax refund came in, since I'm paying for my own room and food, and any tutorials I take, until I get reimbursed for them.
Being easily amused, I'm continuing to scrape my way through my own game collection and play things that I never got around to. Having a short attention span, I hop around a lot. FFX is finally getting played - got through the damn Blitzball tournament before stopping again. Also, finally playing Super Mario Sunshine, which is an addictive beast of a game. I'd been shying away from it after watching my obsessive-compulsive roomate suffering in anguish trying to complete it, but eventually that memory faded, and I reminded myself "Self, you've got the attention span of a caffeinated Gnat. Just play the damn -- oh, hey, my comics have updated."
On the subject of comics, while I'm still intimidated by getting back into coding, particularly coding something into someone else's insane idea of a content management system, I do intend to get my comic page updated relatively soon. Soon being 'as soon as I figure out how to hook into this damn thing'. We'll see.
