In an attempt to piss off the local conservative staff, one of my coworkers posted a link to the below article discussing a link between Donald Rumsfeld and the apparently broken review process involved in certifying Aspartame with the FDA.

My only thought on the matter was "Heh, a new meaning for the phrase 'diet evil'."

Guess I'm just jaded. Gee, a politician involved in some kind of shady dealings? Never!

A random memory was sparked... I don't believe I've written about this one, and it's probably a 'you had to be there' moment:

My most favorite CSc teacher was teaching Systems Programming. He's very sharp, good teaching style, coherent.... very geeky. Jokes that only a unix geek would get. Which meant that I was usually snickering into whatever book I was reading (yeah, apparently one of the student assistants spoke with him and he remembered me as 'the guy who was always reading in the back'...*chuckle*).

In any case, one day he came in sick as a dog. His lecture was pretty solid, content was being covered... but at one point about 20 minutes into the lecture, he ended a sentence with "...And that's the real poop."

The phrase didn't really register with me, but at that point he turned to the class and continued, "..and when you start using phrases like 'the real poop', it's time to end the lecture. We'll pick up on Friday."

I still bust up when I think about his expression, realizing how completely braindead he was...
