This is mostly for jynx:

A note I got in the latest Astraware newsletter:
"Recently I (and the rest of the Astraware team) have been getting addicted to the Sudoku puzzles that are appearing in newspapers now. Who knows what this could lead to!"

Yer doomed, mousy.

If you gawkers don't know what I'm talking about, google 'Sudoku'.

So, I finally found and read the Chronicles of George. I have a couple of things to say about this:

First, I laugheted my assening off at the whole damnening thing. It was actually an order of magnitude more funny because of the familiarity of the ticketing system - Poly uses Remedy as their workflow manager, so the faux-proximity had me rolling for some reason.

Second, I'd be crying if I'd actually had to deal with those kind of tickets. Even Long, one of the senior admins who Just Doesn't Do English Well, had better ability to communicanate than that.

Third, I'm havening too much fun witht he terriblethings that George does to English.

Fourth, I particularly like the response to this question in the FAQ:

I don't particularly care for the amount of sarcasm and general nastiness displayed on this site!

Shut up. And fuck off. Talk to me at work, where I'm paid to be courteous and agreeable. No one is paying me to be nice on my web site. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

I've found it interesting that my office-mate and I have become acclimated to entirely different types of bureaucracy. I find workflow-type bureaucracy to be almost vital - you know, a ticketing system and/or a change request system. He feels like it stifles spontaneity. In my head, I think 'GOOD GOD MAN. I don't _want_ spontaneity in my field. The _last_ thing I need is some asshole walking in at 4:30 on a Friday and saying "I came up with $this_bullshit_idea and I want to you get it done by Monday!".'

So yeah, I like some controlled workflow.

I hate Corporate Asscovering Bureaucracy. I'm sure there's a polite term for it, but it's all those little things, silly forms, required training in things you couldn't care less about, make sure you've twiddled all your bonkers by COB or your middle manager's heart will stop at midnight, yadda. He breezes through that crap serenely.

Weird.

In other news, our Change Review Board meets tomorrow. Today, I submitted three new requests. It feels like I'm hailing Random Shit onto the TRB. Would like authorization to do all my stuff, though...

In other other news, I'm running away now.
