Jan. 5th, 2006 08:54 amLivejournal took on a different tone for me for most of 2005 - it became less about me communicating with my friends (perversely, since I was so far away from them) and more about the information I could find here. I added a couple communities to my friends list - Customers_Suck and Metaquotes - and spent far more time reading those than anything else.
I found myself slipping into the role of consumer - not posting as much because it wasn't why I was here. I'll be trying to rectify that this year.
Customers_suck was a good community for me to read, for all that I think myself to be very considerate - It gave me a chance to get an idea of how people in the service professions see us customers, and what bugs them. That gave me a lot of insight into what not to do. Also, for a long while, I could laugh at the idiots. It's gotten grating, now - the idiots haven't gotten any smarter, but I don't find the slapstick funny anymore.
Metaquotes was, when I arrived, an interesting and vibrant community putting out a variety of amusing memes - 'His hed iz pastede on yey' and 'OMG Racecar bling bling' being two that amused me for a good while. Nowadays it's a little too well known and the noise-to-signal ratio is high.
Annnycase, I'm going to start making this LJ mine again. Let's start with lyrics. Imogen Heap's electronic and vocal work is cool, intricate, and delightful.
