Spent the weekend down at Debi and Thorin's playing games. The Folded Paper game resulted in some pretty standard insanity. I made the mistake of sitting next to Thorin, and he handed me the phrase 'The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse play croquet.' If I recall correctly, the end phrase was "Skulls, Butterflies, Sandwiches and Singing lead to Death." *sigh*.
( Quick explanation of The Folded Paper Game )
I learned two things this weekend - Debi and Thorin's house is hyperallergenic and I spend a day sick after coming home from there, and Elebits is a fun game. Konami seems to be trying to figure out how to make the Wiimote usable, and so they're creating proof of concept games. Elebits was one, and so is a disgustingly cute game called 'Dewy's Adventure' I just picked up because I couldn't find Elebits.
Fun, silly, and good for casual play. They both got kind of lousy reviews; I'm beginning to think that the reviewers have forgotten what it's like just to have fun with a game, instead of worrying whether it's immersive enough or somesuch.
